Extension privacy

Memtherscan for X

This policy explains exactly what happens when you use the one-click import action.

Effective August 8, 2026

01

What the extension does

Memtherscan for X adds an import action to X posts containing media. When you click that action, the extension sends the selected post's canonical URL to Memtherscan. Our server retrieves the public image, GIF, or video and publishes it to the public Memtherscan feed with its source URL, author handle, and a title derived from the post.

02

Data we handle

  • The URL of the X post where you explicitly click the Memtherscan action.
  • Public media and metadata resolved from that post for the requested import.
  • The tweet ID and returned Memtherscan result for up to 500 confirmed imports, stored locally in your Chrome profile to reduce accidental duplicates.
  • Standard service logs needed for security, rate limiting, and reliability, which may include IP address and request timing.
03

What we do not collect

The extension does not read X cookies, passwords, private messages, contacts, precise location, financial information, health information, or general browsing history. It does not send a post URL until you click that post's Memtherscan action.

04

How data is used and shared

Data is used only to perform the import you request, prevent ordinary duplicate imports, protect the service from abuse, and keep it reliable. We do not sell extension data or use it for advertising, credit decisions, or unrelated profiling.

The imported media and its source metadata become public on Memtherscan. Service providers may process data solely to operate the feature: X supplies the public post, Railway runs the import API, Cloudflare R2 stores media, and Firebase stores the meme record.

05

Retention and control

Local import records remain until Chrome removes extension storage, you clear it, or you uninstall the extension. Published memes remain on Memtherscan until removed under our moderation or deletion process. Operational logs follow the retention settings of our infrastructure providers.

To request removal of an imported meme or ask a privacy question, email [email protected] and include the Memtherscan or source URL.
